Viera, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Washington Nationals signed outfielder Josh Willingham to a one-year contract Wednesday, thus avoiding arbitration. While no financial terms were released, several reports had the deal's worth at $2.95 million. Willingham batted .254 with 15 home runs, 51 RBI and a .364 on-base percentage in 102 games last season for Florida. The Nationals acquired Willingham this past November in a trade with Florida that also saw left-hander Scott Olsen come to the team for infielder Emilio Bonifacio. Over his five seasons in the majors, all with Florida, Willingham is a career .266 hitter with 63 homers and 219 RBI in 416 games. The Nationals still have one more player scheduled for arbitration, third baseman Ryan Zimmerman.
