Lake Buena Vista, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Atlanta Braves and second baseman Kelly Johnson avoided salary arbitration and agreed to a contract for the 2009 season. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Johnson was asking for $3.3 million in arbitration and the Braves countered with an offer of $2.35 million. Johnson had the best year of his three-year career in 2008, setting personal bests with a .287 batting average, 39 doubles and 69 runs batted in. He also clubbed 12 homers in 150 games. In 384 big league games, all with Atlanta, Johnson has a .273 average with 37 homers and 177 RBI.
