Surprise, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The Kansas City Royals and first baseman Mike Jacobs avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.275 million contract on Tuesday. The Royals, who acquired Jacobs in the offseason in exchange for pitcher Leo Nunez, have no remaining arbitration-eligible players on the roster. Jacobs, 28, belted a career-high 32 homers and drove in 93 runs with a .247 batting average in 2008. He is a career .262 hitter with 80 homers and 247 RBI in 421 big league games with Florida and the New York Mets.
