Metairie, LA (My Sportsbook) - The New Orleans Saints released 12-year NFL veteran wide receiver David Patten on Thursday. Patten appeared in only five games for New Orleans last season, missing four games with a groin injury from late September through mid-October before being inactive for the team's final eight games. The Western Carolina product spent two seasons with New Orleans and finished second on the team in 2007 with 792 receiving yards on 54 receptions while hauling in three scores. The 34-year-old had just 11 catches for 162 yards and a score in 2008. Patten has 324 receptions for 4,715 yards with 24 TDs over 147 career regular- season games with the Saints, Redskins, Patriots, Browns, and Giants. In seven career postseason games, Patten logged 20 catches for 260 yards with two TDs while collecting three Super Bowl titles while with New England from 2001-04.
