Nashville, TN (My Sportsbook) - The Tennessee Titans promoted secondary coach Chuck Cecil to defensive coordinator, the team announced Thursday. Cecil has been a member of the Titans coaching staff for the last eight seasons, serving as a quality control coach from 2001-03, the safeties and nickel backs coach from 2004-06 and the secondary coach from 2007-08. "Chuck has seen this defense from a number of different perspectives and he is ready for the next step," said Titans head coach Jeff Fisher. " I felt like continuity at this point was very important for our defense. (Former Titans defensive coordinator and current Lions head coach) Jim (Schwartz) and the defensive staff over the last several years have developed a very good system, and I wanted to keep as many of those parts together as possible." Playing with the Packers, Cardinals and Oilers from 1988-95, Cecil made one Pro Bowl appearance in 1992. He was a fourth round draft pick in 1988 out of Arizona. The Titans also promoted Marcus Robertson to replace Cecil as the secondary coach and added Tim Hauck as an assistant secondary coach.
