Palo Alto, CA (My Sportsbook) - Quincy Pondexter poured in 20 points and hauled in six rebounds to give No. 22 Washington its first victory at Maples Pavilion since 1993 with a 75-68 triumph over Stanford.
The Huskies had lost 15 consecutive games at Stanford heading into the tilt.
Jon Brockman chipped in 13 points and 12 boards for the Huskies (17-6, 8-3 Pac-10), who have alternated wins and losses for the last five games to finish out a four-game road trip at 2-2. Isaiah Thomas tallied 17 points and Venoy Overton 11 with five assists and as many steals in the win.
Landry Fields had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinal (14-7, 4-7), who have dropped four of their last five. Anthony Goods added 12 points and Jeremy Green went 3-of-4 from three-point range to garner 11 points.
The teams played close over the first half -- the lead changed sides 10 times over the first 20 minutes -- but it was a pair of free throws from Brockman with 8.9 ticks left that gave the Huskies a 35-34 advantage heading into the break.
However, the Huskies opened the second half on a 15-4 run to assume a 50-38 lead.
Thomas had five of the first seven points on the surge and Matt Bryan- Amaning's layup closed it out with 12:26 left in the contest.
Stanford trailed by as many as 15 points before Green's jumper and three-ball preceeded Josh Owens' layup, which cut it to 56-48 with just over nine minutes showing on the clock.
"This game is made up of runs," said Fields.
Down by seven moments later, Fields drained a free throw and Owens threw down an emphatic dunk to cut it to 64-60.
The teams traded free throws and a mid-range jumper, courtesy of Fields, with 2:21 left pulled the Cardinal within 66-63.
Thomas answered with a layup, which helped the visitors outscore Stanford 9-5 down the stretch en route to the victory.
"We turned the ball over, we didn't take care of the ball late," said Goods.
