Corvallis, OR (My Sportsbook) - Jeff Pendergraph scored 15 points and Jamelle McMillan added 14 points, as 24th-ranked Arizona State continued its amazing conference road success with a 49-38 triumph over Oregon State.
Rihards Kuksiks and James Harden each tallied nine points for the Sun Devils (18-5, 7-4 Pac-10), who have won four straight conference road games for the first time since the 1980-81 season. That team had three starters eventually become NBA first-round draft picks in Alton Lister, Fat Lever and Byron Scott.
ASU is 6-2 in Pac-10 road games on the year. Before this season, the Sun Devils had won at least five just four times in its 31-year history, with eight in 1980-81, seven in 1979-80 and five in 1994-95 and 1982-83.
Rickey Claitt had 13 points for the Beavers (10-12, 4-7), who have lost two straight following a four-game win streak.
"Any time you hold them as a team to 48 you have to win that game," said Oregon State coach Craig Robinson. "I'm disappointed on a lot of levels. I don't think we were mentally prepared to play tonight."
The first half was putrid for both teams, as they combined to shoot 12-of-38 from the field, but ASU held a 19-13 lead.
Claitt's layup had the Beavers within 23-20 with 17:17 remaining, but the Sun Devils came back with an ensuing 9-2 push. Pendergraph's layup made it 32-22 with 14:05 to go.
A three-pointer by Kuksiks expanded the margin to 44-31 with 4:47 left.
