Lincoln, NE (My Sportsbook) - Ade Dagunduro scored a game-high 17 points, as the Nebraska Cornhuskers hung on to top the 16th-ranked Texas Longhorns, 58-55, at Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Dagunduro added nine rebounds for the Cornhuskers (15-7, 5-4 Big 12), who have won three straight games. Toney McCray contributed eight points and five boards.

A.J. Abrams paced Texas (15-7, 4-4) with 16 points. Damion James ended with 13 points and grabbed 12 boards for the Longhorns, who have dropped three consecutive outings. Gary Johnson ended with 12 points in defeat.

After going on a 19-4 run to end the first half, Texas scored five unanswered points to start the final frame. Johnson hit a jumper to end the spurt for the Longhorns, but Nebraska slowly chipped away at the lead.

Trailing 42-32 with just under 11 minutes to play, the Cornhuskers went on a 16-3 run to take their first lead since early in the first stanza. Cookie Miller hit a long-range three to put the home team up by one, and a Dagunduro layup put Nebraska ahead by three.

Johnson's slam with just under three minutes to go capped off five consecutive points for Texas, which took back the lead. Sek Henry's long-range three- pointer on Nebraska's next possession put the Cornhuskers up 51-50.

Ahead 53-52 with 1:44 left, Dagunduro took a pass from Henry and drilled a three. After a 30 second timeout, James dribbled to the left and then hit an open Abrams, who hit a shot from beyond the arc to make things interesting.

Varez Ward fouled Dagunduro on the inbound pass during Nebraska's next possession. Dagunduro made 1-of-2 from the line to put the Cornhuskers ahead 57-55 with 31 seconds to go.

Texas waited until 10 ticks remained on the clock before Abrams failed to make a jumper. Henry grabbed the rebound and was fouled by James. Henry went 1- of-2 from the foul line to extend the Nebraska lead to three. Johnson got the rebound off the second foul shot and quickly worked the ball up the court to Justin Mason. But he air balled a long-range three from the left side.

Ahead 13-10 with just over nine minutes left in the first half, Nebraska scored five unanswered points. Paul Velander capped off the spurt with a three-pointer with 7:46 left.

Texas didn't back down, though, as it responded in a big way. The Longhorns went on a 19-4 run to end the half and take a 29-22 advantage into the locker room. James scored seven points during the big run, which was capped off with a Dexter Pittman layup as time expired in the initial 20 minutes of play.

Game Notes

Texas shot 38.8 percent from the field, while Nebraska shot 38 percent...The Cornhuskers went 7-of-14 from beyond the arc, compared to 7-of-20 for the Longhorns...Texas owns a 15-5 lead in the all-time series with Nebraska...The Longhorns had won the previous seven meetings coming into the contest.
