Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - The Colorado Rockies acquired outfielder Matt Murton from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor league infielder Corey Wimberly. Murton was acquired by the A's last season as part of the deal that sent pitchers Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin to the Chicago Cubs. He played in only nine games for Oakland after the trade and went just 3- for-30 at the plate, then finished the season with Triple-A Sacramento. Over four seasons in the majors, all with the Cubs before the trade, he is a career .288 hitter with 28 home runs and 106 RBI in 317 games. The 25-year-old Wimberly was selected by Colorado in the sixth round of the 2005 June draft and has yet to appear in a big league game.
