Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - The Colorado Rockies avoided arbitration with third baseman Garrett Atkins, agreeing to terms on a one-year contract on Tuesday. Atkins, who also signed a one-year deal prior to last season, hit .286 with 21 home runs, 32 doubles and 99 RBI in 155 games for Colorado in 2008. The 29-year-old is a lifetime .298 hitter with 89 homers and 431 RBI over six seasons, all with the Rockies. With the signing, the club has no more arbitration-eligible players.
