(My Sportsbook) - Kevin Garnett welcomes his old team to Beantown Sunday as the red-hot
Boston Celtics aim for their 11th consecutive win against the improving
Minnesota Timberwolves at TD Banknorth Garden.
Garnett played his first 12 NBA seasons in the Twin Cities before being traded to the Celtics in a blockbuster deal before the 2007-08 season. The 12-time All-Star's arrival in Boston help fueled the Celtics to their 17th NBA title last year and an NBA-best 39-9 record this season.
The C's earned their 10th straight win on Friday in the outskirts of the Motor City when Garnett had 22 points and eight rebounds, as Boston edged the Detroit Pistons, 86-78.
Fellow All-Star Paul Pierce added 20 points for the C's, who have also won five consecutive road games. Rajon Rondo finished with 12 assists to go with eight points and four boards in the Celtics' win.
The Wolves, meanwhile, suffered a 132-119 drubbing at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers in the Twin Cities on Friday. Andrew Bynum combined with Kobe Bryant to record 57 points in the rout.
Al Jefferson came through with a game-high 34 points to go with 13 rebounds and four blocks for Minnesota, which has lost two in a row, but finished the month of January with a solid 10-4 record.
Randy Foye dropped 27 points while Ryan Gomes and rookie Kevin Love contributed 14 points apiece in the loss.
The Celtics, who are a gaudy 23-2 at home on the year, have won four straight over the T-Wolves, including an easy 95-78 win in Minneapolis on November 21. Garnett had a team-leading 17 points in that one, the Celtics' fourth straight win in what turned out to be a franchise-best 19-game winning streak.
Minnesota is just 8-14 on the road this year but has won six of its last eight away from home.
