Ann Arbor, MI (My Sportsbook) - Michigan guard Zack Novak has been suspended for one game by men's basketball coach John Beilein for his flagrant foul and ejection against Ohio State on Wednesday. The school announced the ban on Friday, two days after Novak delivered an elbow to the face of the Buckeyes' P.J. Hill near the finish of the Wolverines' 72-54 loss. The foul led to a skirmish among players that was quickly handled by officials. Beilein called the incident isolated and uncharacteristic of Novak. "He is a fine young man, and while his actions were unacceptable he understands the severity of them and is apologetic and regretful for his behavior," said the head coach. "I am confident Zack will learn a valuable lesson from this imposed discipline and the consequences of his actions." Novak, a freshman, will miss this Saturday's contest at Purdue against the 16th-ranked Boilermakers. In 21 games this year, he is averaging 6.7 points and 3.2 rebounds for the Wolverines (14-7, 4-5 Big Ten).
