(My Sportsbook) - The
New Orleans Hornets hope to wrap a three-game homestand in perfect fashion on Friday, when they welcome the
Golden State Warriors to the Big Easy.
The Hornets improved to 2-0 on the residency and 16-5 overall at New Orleans Arena on Wednesday, when Peja Stojakovic led all scorers with 26 points and New Orleans defeated the Denver Nuggets by a 94-81 margin.
The Hornets continued to ride the hot hand of their Serbian star, who was 10- of-14 shooting one game removed from pouring in 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting against Philadelphia in Monday's opener of a three-game homestand.
Devin Brown provided a spark off the bench with 18 points, while Chris Paul tallied 12 points, 10 assists and four steals for New Orleans, which has won five of six and done so, for the most part, without the services of starters David West and Tyson Chandler.
West (back), who has named to the All-Star team Thursday, has missed the past five games and Chandler (ankle) the last four. Both players will remain on the sidelines tonight and are out indefinitely.
The Warriors, meanwhile, lost the opener of a three-game road trip Wednesday in Dallas, when Jason Terry had 22 points and Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 as the Mavericks posted their largest margin of victory this season with a 117-93 thrashing of Golden State.
Stephen Jackson tallied a game-high 25 points while Corey Maggette notched 21 points for the Warriors, who completed a seven-game homestand on a winning note Sunday against the Clippers -- but shot a woeful 38.6 percent from the floor in a lackluster effort on Wednesday.
Kelenna Azubuike was the only other Warrior in double figures, finishing with 12 points, as Golden State fell to a miserable 4-21 on the road. The Warriors will finish their trek with a visit to Houston on Saturday.
New Orleans has won two straight and three of its last four against Golden State, including a 108-103 win in Oakland on October 29.
