Cincinnati, OH (My Sportsbook) - Deonta Vaughn scored 20 points and grabbed five rebounds, leading Cincinnati to a 65-57 win over 25th-ranked Georgetown.

Mike Williams totaled 12 points and six boards for the Bearcats (14-7, 4-4 Big East), who have won four of their last five. Dion Dixon added 10 points in the win.

"Well obviously, a great win for our team," said Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin. "A tremendous defensive effort for our guys. In the second half, we took care of the ball much better - only four turnovers in the second half. We had a chance in the first half to take control of the game, but our repeated turnovers hurt us. We struggled a little bit with their defense, and they are a good team. We made some adjustments and our guys did a great job in the second half."

Chris Wright had 15 points to pace the slumping Hoyas (12-7, 3-5), whose skid has reached four games. Greg Monroe finished with 10 points and eight rebounds for Georgetown, which had won all four previous meetings with Cincinnati.

"We are at the point now where our backs are against the wall," said Georgetown head coach John Thompson III. "We need to re-evaluate everything. We have to do everything significantly better than we are right now. We need to roll our sleeves up and fight."

Despite shooting just 35.7 percent (10-for-28), the Hoyas trailed 27-26 after the opening 20 minutes. Cincinnati hit at a 50 percent clip (11-for-22) in the first half, and Dixon drained a three-pointer early in the second half to give the Bearcats a 33-28 lead.

Georgetown used an 11-2 run to go up 39-35, but Alvin Mitchell knocked down a trey and Rashad Bishop followed with a layup to restore the lead for Cincinnati with about 13 minutes remaining.

The see-saw battle continued throughout the remainder of the contest. After Vaughn made two free throws to make it 54-49 with six minutes left on the clock, Georgetown rattled off six straight points, capped by Jason Clark's three-pointer.

Dixon quickly answered for the Bearcats, nailing a shot from beyond the arc and sinking 1-of-2 from the foul line. Williams then hit a jumper to give Cincinnati a 60-55 lead with about 1 1/2 minutes remaining. The Bearcats cemented the win from the charity stripe.

Game Notes

Bishop had nine assists, six rebounds and six points...Austin Freeman contributed 14 points for Georgetown...Cincinnati shot 45.8 percent (22- for-48) from the field while limiting the Hoyas to 40 percent (22- for-55)...The Bearcats held a 32-29 edge on the glass.
