Terry, Nowitzki lead the way as Mavs topple Warriors

Dallas, TX (My Sportsbook) - Jason Terry had 22 points and Dirk Nowitzki scored 20, as the Dallas Mavericks posted their largest margin of victory this season with a 117-93 thrashing of the Golden State Warriors.

Josh Howard provided 19 points while Brandon Bass logged 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Mavericks, who finished a four-game road trip on a losing note Sunday in Boston, suffering their second blowout loss in the last three games.

It was Dallas, though, that brought the pain on Wednesday, shooting 49.4 percent from the field and dominating the boards to a 53-38 tune.

"We were able to step it up, play aggressive and knock down shots. We held Golden State to 11 fast break points and that's good against them," Howard said. "It's just a matter of us stepping up to the challenge. We have a lot of experienced players and we know what it takes to be successful."

James Singleton chipped in 14 points and Erick Dampier 10 to go along with 11 rebounds.

Stephen Jackson tallied a game-high 25 points while Corey Maggette notched 21 points for the Warriors, who completed a seven-game homestand on a winning note Sunday against the Clippers -- but shot a woeful 38.6 percent from the floor in a lackluster effort.

"I just didn't think that we did a very good job with any part of the game or followed our game plan or anything," Golden State head coach Don Nelson said. "We just didn't look like a very good team tonight. We've been playing pretty well, but that'll happen."

Kelenna Azubuike was the only other Warrior in double figures with 12 points.

Dallas jumped out to a 31-25 lead after 12 minutes and surged ahead by 22, 69-47, in closing out the first half. The 69 points were a season-high for a half and came on 62.8 percent (27-of-43) shooting from the field.

Back-to-back jumpers by Maggette and Ronny Turiaf in the middle stages of the second brought Golden State within one, 37-36, but the Warriors got just three more field goals before the break as the Mavs exploded on a 26-7 run. Terry then closed out the half with a pair of free throws followed by a three-ball for the hefty lead.

Terry's 14 first-half points were second only to Nowitzki's 18.

The Warriors could get no closer as Dallas held its lead at 22, 92-70, after three quarters. Ten straight points midway through the fourth capped by consecutive three-pointers from Terry and Singleton set the advantage at 30, all but locking up a big win for the Mavs.

Game Notes

Dallas, which is 14-7 as the host on the year, has won four of their past five meetings with Golden State...The Warriors had won three of five overall coming into Wednesday and finished 4-3 on their seven-game residency...Golden State, which is a dismal 4-21 as the visitor this season, kicked off a three- game road trip with the loss and will also face New Orleans and Houston on the trek...Golden State's Monta Ellis had seven points on 2-of-11 shooting in just his third game after missing the first three months of the season with an ankle injury.
