Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Reggie Redding recorded a career-high 18 points to go with seven rebounds and Dante Cunningham added 15 points, as No. 21 Villanova upended third-ranked Pittsburgh, 67-57, in the final collegiate sporting event to be played at the Wachovia Spectrum.

Scottie Reynolds had a tough shooting night but still ended with 10 points, while Corey Fisher scored nine for Villanova (16-4, 4-3 Big East).

The Wildcats won back-to-back games for the first time since ending December on a four-game win streak and defeated a ranked opponent for the first time this season.

DeJuan Blair, coming in averaging a double-double with 14.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game, battled foul trouble throughout and racked up just seven points and eight boards for Pittsburgh (18-2, 6-2), which has dropped two of its last four.

Sam Young scored 14 points to go with seven caroms, while Brad Wanamaker and Levance Fields chipped in 13 and 11 for the previously top-ranked Panthers, who hit just 3-of-15 from behind the arc.

The Spectrum, which opened back in 1967, hosted two NCAA Final Fours (1976, 1981) and was home to arguably the most memorable NCAA Tournament game of all- time on March 28, 1992, when Duke's Christian Laettner buried a game-winner at the overtime buzzer to knock off Kentucky in the 1992 East Regional Final.

While the last game played there wasn't nearly as significant, it was a tight battle between two of the better teams in arguably the best conference in college basketball.

The Wildcats broke a 48-all tie in the second half with seven straight points. Redding's two free throws started the rally at the eight-minute mark, and Reynolds' three-pointer capped it 2 1/2 minutes later.

Coming out of a timeout, Young's field goal and Blair's free throw temporarily stopped the bleeding, but Cunningham and Redding scored on back-to-back possessions -- sandwiched around a Jermaine Dixon missed three -- and 'Nova was ahead 59-51 with three minutes left.

The Panthers inched back to trail by six, 61-55, with less than 90 ticks remaining. Pitt was forced to foul the rest of the way, and the Wildcats' 6- for-6 effort at the stripe finished off their signature win for the season.

Early in the first half, Wanamaker, a Philadelphia native, scored seven straight points for Pitt, which went ahead 19-9 on his triple at the midway point. 'Nova then went on a 15-4 run capped by Cunningham's two-handed slam from the baseline with under four minutes to go before halftime.

Down a point, Gilbert Brown drained a trey and added a three-point play to end the half's scoring with the Panthers holding a 31-26 advantage.

Dwayne Anderson's three-ball a little over two minutes after the break gave the Wildcats a 34-33 lead, and it stayed tight for the remainder of the bout.

Game Notes

The Spectrum is scheduled to be demolished in September to make room for a complex that includes a destination retail, dining and entertainment district in the area adjacent to the Wachovia Center, where, along with the on-campus Pavilion, Villanova typically hosts opponents...Reynolds shot 3-for-11 from the field in the win...The Wildcats hit 19-of-28 from the foul line, while the Panthers missed seven of their 17 attempts at the stripe...Villanova leads the all-time series, 31-27.
