Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - Amare Stoudemire finished with 23 points and had a crucial three-point play with 26.2 seconds left, as the Phoenix Suns outlasted the Atlanta Hawks, 104-99, at Philips Arena.

Shaquille O'Neal added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Suns, who snapped a three-game slide. It was Phoenix's second win in the last seven games. Steve Nash had 14 points and 13 assists in the win, while Leandro Barbosa scored 20 off the bench.

"Tonight was a nice win for us," Suns head coach Terry Porter said. "We went through a little stretch where we struggled, but we got back into it and did a good job maintaining the pace, as far as pushing it."

Josh Smith had 19 points and 12 rebounds for Atlanta, which had a three-game win streak ended. Marvin Williams scored 17 points and Joe Johnson added 15 points and 13 assists, as the Hawks fell to 17-5 this season at home.

"We had good looks at the basket tonight," Hawks head coach Mike Woodson said. "We can't hang our hats on the outcome. We did have a lead late in the game, and weren't able to hold it. We missed a couple layups right at the basket, and that came back to haunt us."

In a closely contested game throughout, Atlanta's Mike Bibby drilled a three and Solomon Jones followed with a dunk, giving the Hawks a 95-94 lead with 6:05 left in the game.

However, Atlanta went more than five minutes without another point, allowing the Suns to retake the lead. O'Neal made two free throws with five minutes left, and with 3:47 on the clock, Barbosa hit a triple for a 99-95 Suns edge.

But Phoenix couldn't extend its lead, and the game remained a four-point affair as the clock went under a minute.

Barbosa was called for a reach-in foul with 43 seconds remaining, and Jones hit two free throws to bring the Hawks within 99-97.

But on the ensuing Suns possession, Nash fed a backwards pass to the lane for Stoudemire, who charged to the hoop and dropped in a finger-roll basket while being fouled. He made the free throw for a 102-97 Phoenix advantage with 26.2 ticks left.

The Hawks got a quick basket, and fouled Nash, who made both shots with 6.9 seconds left, sealing the Suns' win.

"Down the stretch, baskets were definitely hard to come by," Stoudemire said. "But you have to find a way to will your way to a win."

Phoenix went ahead 22-9 on a Jason Richardson jumper 7 1/2 minutes into the first quarter, but Atlanta followed with seven points to get back in the game. Johnson capped the opening stanza with five straight points, getting the Hawks within 27-26 going into the second.

The teams traded baskets until halftime, when the Hawks held a 57-55 edge. The Suns ended the third quarter with six points -- a basket from Stoudemire, and two from Barbosa -- to take an 83-80 lead into the final quarter.

A seven-point burst from Phoenix, ended by a Barbosa three, put the visitors ahead 94-90 with just over seven minutes left.

Game Notes

Atlanta shot 41.7 percent from the floor, and just 5-for-22 from three-point range...Phoenix made 55.4 percent of its shots, including a 5-for-10 mark from beyond the arc...The Suns committed 21 turnovers, compared to 13 for Atlanta.
