Champaign, IL (My Sportsbook) - Demetri McCamey led the way with 25 points, seven assists and four rebounds as the 25th-ranked Illinois Fighting Illini defeated the Wisconsin Badgers, 64-57, at Assembly Hall in a Big Ten clash.

Mike Davis provided 10 points and eight rebounds, while Chester Frazier had nine points for Illinois (17-3, 5-2 Big Ten), which had already equaled last season's win total of 16 prior to its fourth victory in the last five games Saturday. The Illini moved to 11-1 at Assembly Hall this season with the win.

The Fighting Illini ended a five-game win streak by the Badgers in this Big Ten rivalry.

Joe Krabbenhoft paced the visitors with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Trevon Hughes scored 13 and grabbed six boards for the Badgers (12-7, 3-4), who jumped out to a quick 3-0 start in Big Ten action, but have since suffered four consecutive losses -- each coming in conference play -- to extend a season-long losing streak.

Marcus Landry also scored 13 as Wisconsin was hampered by poor shooting, hitting just 35.6 percent of its field goals -- including a 6-for-21 showing from beyond the arc.

The Illini stormed out to a 41-28 advantage early in the second half behind a 9-3 spurt. McCamey got things going with a three-pointer and Davis got to the hoop for two a little over four minutes in for the 13-point lead.

Minutes later, four consecutive free throws from McCamey and Frazier provided a 15-point lead but Wisconsin slowly clawed its way back.

Six straight points from Hughes followed by three free throws by Krabbenhoft cut the deficit to seven with six minutes remaining. Meanwhile, McCamey kept Illinois in the game by scoring eight straight points on the other end with a pair of free throws just inside three minutes remaining pushing the lead back to 10.

The Illini continued to hit their shots at the line, but Wisconsin got three- pointers from Hughes and then Krabbenhoft just inside the one-minute mark to get within six, 61-55. Calvin Brock then hit just 1-of-2 from the stripe and Jordan Taylor made it a five-point game with a jumper, but both Jason Bohannon and Hughes missed from long distance on the Badgers' next two trips -- and Illinois held on for the win.

The teams' played it close to start the game but the Fighting Illini turned up the heat with a 13-2 run to take a 20-11 lead with just under 10 minutes on the clock. McCamey started the surge and ended it with a pair of layups.

Landry countered with a three-pointer, followed by a slam from Keaton Nankivil that got the Badgers within four, but a McCamey three-point play and a slam by Davis closed the half to put Illinois in front 32-25 heading into the break.

Games Notes

Illinois leads the all-time series over Wisconsin, 107-73...The Illini shot 50 percent from the field and helped seal the victory by hitting 18-of-22 at the line...Despite the loss, Wisconsin held the edge in both the paint, 20-18, and the boards, 32-30.
