Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (My Sportsbook) - Scotland's Catriona Matthew shot a three-under 69 on Saturday to take a two-shot lead after the opening round of the HSBC LPGA Brasil Cup. Kristy McPherson of the United States was is second place at one-under 71, while Brazilian LPGA Tour member Angela Park stood third at even-par 72. Fellow Brazilian Candy Hannemann and American Allison Fouch were two shots further back at 74. This 36-hole tournament is an unofficial event on the LPGA Tour, which doesn't begin its season until Feb. 12. The inaugural event, co-sponsored by the Brazilian LPGA Tour, ends with the final round on Sunday. The remainder of the 15-player field includes Carin Koch (75), Christina Kim (75), Eun-Hee Ji (75), Jill McGill (75), Laura Diaz (75), Jimin Kang (76), Karen Stupples (78), Louise Friberg (78), Patricia Naday de Carvalho (79) and Leta Lindley (81).
