Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - The Philadelphia Phillies and outfielder Jayson Werth avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a two-year contract worth $10 million. Werth batted .273 in 134 games last season for the World Series champions and belted 24 homers with 67 runs batted in. He also hit .309 with seven doubles, a pair of home runs, four RBI and four stolen bases in the postseason. The 29-year-old Werth has spent the past two seasons with Philadelphia and has batted .282 with 32 homers, 116 RBI and 27 stolen bases in 228 games. He is a career .263 hitter, including .291 versus left-handed pitching, in 460 games with Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Toronto. Of a major league-high eight Phillies that filed for arbitration, only first baseman Ryan Howard remains unsigned.
