(My Sportsbook) - The surging
Philadelphia 76ers attempt to extend their season high winning streak to eight straight games Monday afternoon when the
Dallas Mavericks take the floor at the Wachovia Center.
The Sixers stretched their streak to seven wins in a row Saturday by beating the New York Knicks, 107-97, at Madison Square Garden. Andre Iguodala poured in a game-high 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, as Philadelphia moved to .500 (20-20) for the first time since November 24.
Andre Miller chipped in 27 points, eight assists and five boards for the 76ers, who last won seven straight from February 26-March 10, 2007. Lou Williams netted 15 points in the win, while Thaddeus Young and Marreese Speights had 10 points apiece.
Philadelphia, which hasn't won eight straight games since posting nine consecutive victories from February 12-March 2, 2003, will also welcome the Knicks to the Wachovia Center and is 11-8 as the host in 2008-09.
Sixers forward Elton Brand is questionable for today's game and hasn't played since December 17 versus Milwaukee. Brand is averaging 15.9 points and 9.8 rebounds this season and will have to make the adjustment to Philly's up-tempo offense under head coach Tony DiLeo.
Dallas will open a four-game road trip Monday against the 76ers, Bucks, Pistons and Celtics, and is 10-10 as the visitor this season. It put the brakes on a four-game losing streak with a 115-108 victory versus Utah on Saturday, as Dirk Nowitzki scored 39 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Mavericks at American Airlines Center.
Jason Terry added 22 points and Brandon Bass tallied 17, while Jason Kidd ended with 11 points and 15 assists. Forward Josh Howard (wrist) is listed as questionable for Monday's game.
The Mavs recently beat Philadelphia, 96-86, on January 2 at home and have won five of six and 10 of the previous 15 encounters. These two teams have split the last 10 matchups in the City of Brotherly Love.
