Hartford, CT (My Sportsbook) - A.J. Price scored 23 points and dished out five assists, leading fourth-ranked Connecticut to a 76-61 win over Seton Hall at the XL Center.
Hasheem Thabeet finished with 17 rebounds and 15 points for the Huskies (16-1, 5-1 Big East), who have won five straight games since dropping the conference- opener to Georgetown. Jeff Adrien also posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards for UConn.
"They're a pretty good team," UConn head coach Jim Calhoun said of Seton Hall. "They're a really good offensive team. We were really convinced that they would come out and pressure us."
Jeremy Hazell had 20 points to lead the way for Seton Hall (9-8, 0-5). Robert Mitchell totaled 19 points and nine rebounds for the Pirates, who have dropped five games in a row and seven of eight overall.
"Their inside people, Jeff Adrien and Thabeet, they're like an NBA 4 and 5," said Seton Hall head coach Bobby Gonzalez. "I just don't see too many teams in the league that have two special guys like that. They're a problem especially with A.J. Price and (Jerome) Dyson. They make threes so you have to kind of pick your poison."
Seton Hall stayed within striking distance at the outset of the contest, trailing by two at 17-15 after Mitchell drained a three-pointer near the seven-minute mark. The Huskies, though, began to pull away, owning a 28-19 edge just the past the midway point, and carried a 42-26 lead to the break.
UConn maintained a double-digit cushion throughout the duration of the second half to cruise to victory.
