Clemson, SC (My Sportsbook) - Jeff Teague scored 24 points to lead second- ranked Wake Forest to a 78-68 win over No. 10 Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum, keeping the Demon Deacons undefeated.

James Johnson added 19 points for Wake Forest (16-0, 3-0 ACC), which is the only remaining undefeated team in Division I, as top-ranked Pittsburgh was dealt its first loss of the season Saturday night at Louisville.

"I thought that we showed a lot of heart today," said Wake Forest head coach Dino Gaudio. "When Clemson cut the lead to one, it was pretty loud in here. But our team showed resiliency. It was a terrific win today. Clemson made us play more chaotic than we would have liked, but we are athletic and quick enough to win. It was a tough game, but out staple was our defense. Overall, it was a good win for these young guys."

Al-Farouq Aminu ended with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Chas McFarland brought down 12 boards in the win.

K.C. Rivers and Terrence Oglesby each scored 15 points for Clemson (16-1, 2-1), which was dealt its first loss of the season despite overcoming a double-digit deficit in the second half.

"Wake is a very good basketball team. Secondly, we are a good team that did not play well," said Clemson head coach Oliver Purnell. "We did not have a good shooting percentage and should have made more second chance shots. We had a lot of rebounds, but did not capitalize on them. I thought we played best when the pace was frantic, and they played better when the tempo was slower and they were able to penetrate. Their size definitely bothered us, and Teague is a great player who made some big plays down the stretch. We just didn't play well in the last six minutes."

Demontez Stitt scored 13 points in the loss for the Tigers.

Ahead at halftime by five, the Demon Deacons opened the second half with an 11-2 run. Teague opened it with a three-pointer, and L.D. Williams closed it out with a pair of free throws for a 43-29 Wake Forest lead.

The Demon Deacons then held a lead of about 10 points through the midway point of the half, and with 9 1/2 minutes to play, Ishmael Smith kicked out a pass to Williams, who drilled the three for a 58-44 Wake Forest lead.

But Clemson clawed back in the game with a sprawling 16-3 surge. Three consecutive layups -- two from Stitt -- began the run to immediately get the Tigers within 58-50, and moments later, with the Demon Deacons still ahead by eight, Oglesby's trey cut Clemson's deficit to five.

Wake Forest missed its next three shots, leading to a fastbreak up-and-under layup from Stitt with five minutes on the clock.

The Demon Deacons' ensuing inbounds pass went long, and was intercepted at midcourt. Trevor Booker went up for a dunk that missed, but he was fouled and made both shots to complete the run and make it a 61-60 game.

But Wake Forest held off the furious rally, responding with a 10-1 run capped by a McFarland layup that made it 71-61. With just 2:17 remaining, it was crushing blow to Clemson's chances, and the Demon Deacons held on for the win.

The teams swapped baskets and the lead in a tight first half, and Clemson was up by one with five minutes left to play. But Wake Forest ended the period with two Johnson baskets and an Aminu jumper to put the Demon Deacons up 32-27 at the intermission.

Game Notes

Williams finished with 11 points for Wake Forest, while Johnson had eight rebounds...Clemson shot just 33.8 percent from the floor, and made only 11- of-20 free throws...Wake Forest made 48.2 percent of its field goal attempts, and 22-of-28 from the free throw line.
