Dallas, TX (My Sportsbook) - Mike Ribeiro scored the lone goal in the shootout and also tallied and added an assist in regulation as the
Dallas Stars edged the
Los Angeles Kings, 3-2, at American Airlines Center.
Jere Lehtinen also scored and added a helper for the Stars, who regrouped after a 5-4 shootout loss to Buffalo on Thursday.
Marty Turco turned aside 20 of 22 shots, including some key stops at the end of regulation and overtime for the Stars.
Dustin Brown had a goal and an assist, Alexander Frolov also lit the lamp for the Kings, who have dropped four straight and six of eight.
Erik Ersberg allowed two goals on 34 shots for LA.
After a scoreless overtime, Frolov was stopped by Turco to begin the shootout and Ribeiro tallied for Dallas, ripping a wrist shot past Ersberg, giving the hosts the advantage.
The next two shooters were unable to light the lamp and Jack Johnson had to score for the Kings to keep the shootout going, but Turco made a pad save to give Dallas the win.
"It felt good," Ribeiro said of his shootout goal. "I wanted to make sure to at least get a shot on net. Goalies don't really know what I'm going to do, and neither do I. I decided to shoot it."
Brown snapped a scoreless tie at 6:45 of the third period. From the left circle on a nice pass from Kyle Calder, the left winger ripped a wrist shot past Turco.
Lehtinen then scored at 11:29 on a great individual effort. The veteran forward took a pass at center ice from Ribeiro, skated past several defenders and beat Ersberg with a wrister.
Darryl Sydor's soft wrist shot from the point deflected off of Ribeiro with 1:12 left in regulation to put the Stars ahead by a 2-1 margin, but LA tied things with 17 seconds remaining while skating with an extra attacker.
Anze Kopitar's wrap around pass made its way to Frolov on the right side of the net and the veteran burried it from in close on the right side of the cage.
