Detroit Pistons will try to put the brakes on a season- high four- game losing streak Saturday when they host the
New Orleans Hornets at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
The Pistons fell again in Oklahoma City on Friday when Kevin Durant connected on 14-of-21 from the field for a game-high 32 points to lead the suddenly improving Thunder to an 89-79 triumph over Detroit.
Oklahoma City recorded its first back-to-back wins of the season and has compiled a 5-4 record over its past nine games to improve to 8-33.
Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton each logged 18 points for the Pistons. Rasheed Wallace provided 12 points and eight rebounds, and Allen Iverson ended with 14 points in a losing cause.
The Hornets. meanwhile, fell to 1-1 on a three-game road trip and 11-8 as the visitor overall on Friday when they ran into the buzzsaw that is the Cleveland Cavaliers.
LeBron James recorded 29 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, as the Cavs remained perfect at home with a 92-78 victory over New Orleans. James was 12- of-24 from the field overall and had 14 points in the fourth quarter after shooting a dreadful 8-for-28 in Thursday's loss to the Bulls. The Cavaliers remain the only unbeaten home team in the NBA, as they now have a 20-0 record at Quicken Loans Arena this season.
Chris Paul posted 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Hornets, who have alternated wins and losses in their last seven games. With the assist total, Paul now has 2,503 in his career in 258 games, becoming the second- fastest player to accomplish that feat. The legendary Oscar Robertson was the only one to do it faster (247 games).
David West shot just 6-of-16 from the field for 23 points, while Peja Stojakovic had 15 points in the loss. Rasual Butler scored 10 points for New Orleans.
Detroit, which is 12-6 at The Palace this season, has won three straight and seven of its last eight games against the Hornets.
