Winnipeg, MB (My Sportsbook) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have re-signed running back Daryl Stephenson and defensive back Kelly Malveaux. Details on both contracts were undisclosed. Stephenson was selected by Winnipeg in the third round of the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft and spent training camp with the Bombers before returning to the University of Windsor to play out his final year of eligibility. He compiled 5,163 rushing yards for the Lancers and added 19 yards on nine carries in two games with Winnipeg late in the campaign. "Daryl came to camp last year and impressed the coaches so much he was offered a practice roster spot," said Blue Bombers Director of Football Operations Ross Hodgkinson. "We respected the fact he elected to go back to school. When the need arose at the end of his CIS season he came back and it was like he never missed a beat." Malveaux dressed for 17 regular-season games last season and ranked second on the club in tackles with 65 and passes defensed with six. He finished tied for second on the Bombers with a pair of interceptions and added one sack with a forced fumble. The Bombers acquired Malveaux in an April 2006 trade with the Montreal Alouettes in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. "Kelly brings a wealth of stability, leadership and versatility to the secondary," added Hodgkinson. "He has demonstrated the ability to effectively play halfback, safety, as well as the strong side linebacker position."
