Los Angeles, CA (My Sportsbook) - Josh Smith totaled 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help the Atlanta Hawks hand the Clippers their 12th straight loss via a 97-80 victory over Los Angeles at Staples Center.

The Clippers haven't tasted victory since a 117-109 double-overtime win over the Pacers on December 19.

Joe Johnson added 21 points and seven assists for the Hawks, who saw their four-game slide become history. Ronald Murray had 17 points and Marvin Williams 11 in the win.

Al Thornton poured in 25 points and hauled in nine boards for the Clippers, who haven't won at home since a 95-82 triumph over the Rockets on December 13. Eric Gordon chipped in 18 points and Mardy Collins 15 and eight helpers in defeat.

"We're just trying to get a win," said Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy. "We made good runs tonight but then we made mistakes that gave them easy baskets."

The Hawks were up 15-12 after the first quarter and led 43-31 at the break.

Down by 15 late in the third, an 8-0 LA run brought the Clippers within 54-47 with just under five minutes left in the frame. Collins and Thornton both had four points in the surge.

Atlanta was on top 66-58 heading into the final 12 minutes.

Just past the eight-minute mark of the fourth, Murray had a pair of free throws to make it 77-65 in Atlanta's favor.

Thornton's layup and Gordon's three-point play brought the home team within 81-74 with just over five minutes remaining in the contest.

The Hawks, though, pulled away from there and were never threatened the rest of the way.

"We got off to a good start this season, then we ran into a bump in the road," said Johnson. "It feels good to get the win tonight."

The Hawks moved to 1-1 on a three-game road trip. The Hawks are 8-11 as the visitor on the year and will finish their trip in Oakland against the Golden State Warriors on January 16...The Clips moved to 0-2 on a six-game homestand...LA is a dismal 3-16 at Staples Center and will also face Milwaukee, Minnesota, the LA Lakers and Oklahoma City on its residency...The Hawks have won four of their past five meetings with the Clips, but have lost four of their past six games in LA against the Clippers.
