Anaheim, CA (My Sportsbook) - Dan Cleary and Johan Franzen tallied 35 seconds apart in the third period, and Chris Osgood made an unbelievable glove save in the frame's late stages to preserve Detroit's 4-3 come-from-behind triumph over Anaheim at Honda Center.
Tomas Holmstrom and Jiri Hudler also scored for the Red Wings, who have recorded at least a point in nine straight games (7-0-2). Pavel Datsyuk and Niklas Kronwall both registered two assists, while Osgood made 25 saves to earn his 15th win of the season.
Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and two helpers to lead the Ducks, who have lost three of four. Corey Perry and Steve Montador each had a goal and an assist, while Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 29-of-33 shots.
Cleary's wrister from inside the right circle sailed past Giguere and under the crossbar 9:32 into the third, tying the game at three. Franzen then lit the lamp 35 seconds later on a disputed tally.
Giguere turned aside Datsyuk's offering from along the left boards. Franzen was on the doorstep and managed to bat the rebound out of the air and over the right shoulder of Giguere, who had dropped down into the butterfly. The goal was upheld following a video review to determine if it was touched with a high stick.
With time winding down and Giguere on the bench in favor of an extra skater, Osgood robbed Perry to secure the victory.
Holmstrom put Detroit on the board 9:03 into the contest, but the Red Wings trailed 2-1 after the first period. Getzlaf evened things up with three minutes remaining and Perry added a power-play goal with 1:12 left in the first period.
The Red Wings converted on the power play early in the middle stanza. The puck took a fortuitous carom off the boards and came right to Hudler, who ripped a shot over the glove of a stunned Giguere at 2:49.
Anaheim reclaimed the lead with 8:32 to play in the second period. Montador accepted a cross-ice pass from Getzlaf and fired a shot from the right circle that beat Osgood high on the glove side.
