Chestnut Hill, MA (My Sportsbook) - Jeff Teague posted a game-high 29 points as No. 2 Wake Forest used an early surge to send Boston College to an 83-63 defeat at Conte Forum.
Al-Farouq Aminu recorded 15 points and eight rebounds for the Demon Deacons (15-0, 2-0 ACC), who head to undefeated No. 10 Clemson on Saturday. James Johnson and Chas McFarland each scored 11.
Joe Trapani picked up 20 points with 11 rebounds for the Eagles (13-5, 1-2), who have dropped three in a row since besting then-top-ranked North Carolina on the road on January 4. Tyrese Rice also scored 20 points, but turned the ball over eight times in the loss.
Wake Forest jumped out to a 10-2 lead just under three minutes into the contest, then six in a row from BC made it a two-point contest on a Rakim Sanders jumper.
From there, the visitors took full control of the contest, embarking on a 16-5 run which put them up 26-13 on a Teague slam with 8:02 left in the half.
Two free throws from Rice interrupted the flow, but another burst, this time 19-7, gave the Deacons a 45-22 advantage with 2:59 remaining as Ishmael Smith sank a layup. Trapani scored five in a row but Wake Forest held a 47-27 lead at intermission after Smith hit two from the line in the final seconds.
Johnson's free throw less than three minutes into the second half made it 52-27 for Wake, and the Eagles did not awaken until a 12-5 run pulled them within 66-56 with 7:23 to play as Biko Paris hit one-of-two from the line.
Johnson hit a jumper on the next possession, and the Deacons finished the contest strongly, outscoring BC by 10 and rolling to victory.
