Pittsburgh, PA (My Sportsbook) - Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Rob Scuderi left Wednesday's 6-3 setback to the Washington Capitals in the first period with an apparent facial injury.

Scuderi dove to block a shot from Caps defenseman Mike Green with 2:12 remaining in the period, but the puck struck the d-man on the left side of his face.

Scuderi was helped off the ice with a towel to his face, covering up a significant amount of blood. He did not return to the game and his status is unknown for Friday's home contest with the Anaheim Ducks.
