Pittsburgh, PA (My Sportsbook) - Alex Ovechkin scored twice and added an assist as Washington scored four times in the final period for a 6-3 win over Pittsburgh at Mellon Arena.

Tomas Fleischmann notched the game-winner for the Capitals, who snapped a three-game losing skid and won for the second time in as many tries in Pittsburgh this season. Washington also took away a 4-3 decision on October 16.

Viktor Kozlov, Alexander Semin and Jeff Schultz also tallied and Jose Theodore stopped 26 shots in the victory.

Miroslav Satan, Evgeni Malkin and Ryan Whitney scored for the Penguins, who have lost three of four and were unable to maintain momentum from a road win in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Marc-Andre Fleury allowed five goals on 41 shots for the loss.

Ovechkin knocked home a rebound from the left side of the cage for a power- play goal and 3-2 Washington lead 1:48 into the third period.

Whitney produced a 3-3 deadlock at 3:12 when his slap shot from the left point hit the crossbar and bounced home, but the Caps once again led by one at 8:11 as Fleischmann dove to shovel a loose puck into the cage after Fleury stopped Ovechkin's initial chance.

Ovechkin then sent a centering pass from the left wing intended for Nicklas Backstrom in the slot, but the puck hit a Penguin skate in front and deflected in for a 5-3 Capitals edge with 8:33 left in regulation.

Fleury was pulled after Milan Jurcina was whistled for hooking with 1:18 to play, but a comeback was not to be. Schultz knocked away a clearing pass with 1:06 to go, and the puck slid all the way down into the open cage.

Malkin shot an early breakaway high and over the net, but the Pens picked up the game's first goal on the power play. Satan dished from the goal line to Sidney Crosby in the left circle, whose touch-pass found Malkin at the point for a blistering one-timer at 5:45.

Kozlov got the goal back as his wrister off a Backstrom feed slipped off Fleury's glove and into the net at 1:06 of the second period.

Satan then banked in a rebound at 8:23 and the Pens were ahead by a goal once more. The tally broke a 13-game goal drought for the veteran.

Washington responded again with 7:20 remaining, as Semin converted a Sergei Fedorov pass with a tip past a sliding Fleury.

Game Notes

Washington has won three in a row in Pittsburgh, for the first time since winning four straight at the Igloo from January 16-November 20, 1985..It was just the fourth victory for the Capitals over the Penguins since the start of the 2005-06 season...Backstrom picked up three assists...Prior to the contest, the Caps recalled defenseman Bryan Helmer from Hershey of the AHL. The move was made since Washington backliner Shaone Morrisonn was scratched with a lower-body injury...Penguins defenseman Rob Scuderi left the game late in the first period with a facial injury after blocking a shot and did not return...Satan hadn't scored since December 18...Crosby left the game with 2:13 to play with an apparent leg injury...The Capitals host Boston on Saturday, while the Penguins continue their five-game homestand by welcoming Anaheim on Friday.
