St. Petersburg, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Tampa Bay Rays have avoided arbitration with outfielder Gabe Gross, signing him to a one-year contract on Wednesday. The 29-year-old Gross batted .242 with a career-high 13 home runs and 38 runs batted in over 127 games last season for the upstart American League champion Rays. Tampa Bay acquired Gross from the Milwaukee Brewers last April in exchange for pitcher Josh Butler. A veteran of five seasons with the Blue Jays, Brewers and Rays, Gross has a .242 career average with 33 homers and 125 RBI.
