Toronto, Ontario (My Sportsbook) - The Toronto Argonauts signed linebacker Kevin Eiben to a three-year contract extension on Wednesday, retaining the three-time CFL All Star through the 2011 season. Eiben, a four-time East Division All Star and one of two Argos in team history to twice receive the Lew Hayman award as the East Division's Outstanding Canadian, led the team with 91 tackles last season -- a mark that was also third best in the league. "We are thrilled to have Kevin continue to be a valued member of the Double Blue defence. He is a team leader with a high football IQ, as well as physical and mental toughness. We expect him to grow in his leadership role in the 2009 season and on," said Toronto Argonauts general manager Adam Rita. Eiben is the third leading tackler in franchise history with 494 and has led the league twice in that category, becoming the only player in franchise history to post two 100-tackle seasons in 2004 (110) and again in 2005 (113). "It's great to be back in Toronto for three more years. I've really enjoyed the past eight seasons with the Argonauts and I'm looking forward to getting back in the hunt for another Grey Cup championship," Eiben said. Toronto selected the Bucknell product in the fourth round of the 2001 Canadian Draft -- and after leading the CFL in special teams tackles in 2003 -- Eiben was named a starter the following season.
