Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) The Philadelphia Flyers assigned center Danny Briere to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, for conditioning purposes, it was announced on Tuesday. Briere will play in Wednesday's Phantoms game against Worcester and Friday's game against Lowell. "We are doing this just to make sure everything is okay with Danny," Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren said. "This will give him the opportunity to play in some games prior to re-joining the Flyers. He will play two games with the Phantoms on Wednesday and Friday. He was absolutely receptive to this." The 31-year-old Briere has five goals and four assists in nine games with the Flyers this season. He has missed the last 18 games with a groin strain, and 27 of the last 28 overall due to injury. The Phantoms also announced that Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid will be on hand to drop the ceremonial first puck on Friday.
