Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - Allen Iverson had 23 points in his return to Denver, and Arron Afflalo hit six big free throws in the final 9.1 seconds, helping the Detroit Pistons edge the Nuggets, 93-90.

Iverson returned to the Pepsi Center for the first time since being traded earlier this season. Iverson was sent to the Motor City on November 3 for a package that included point guard Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb. McDyess later returned to the Pistons after his contract was bought out and was instrumental with 12 rebounds in this game.

Iverson shot 6-of-18 from the field, while Billups ended with a season-best 30 points, but missed a potential three-pointer at the final horn.

Tayshaun Prince had 19 points and hit the go-ahead jumper with 20.6 seconds left, and Afflalo scored 17 for Detroit, which has won five straight and 14 of its last 16 over the Nuggets. It was the Pistons' eighth win in their last nine games overall.

Nene scored 15 and Kenyon Martin tallied 14 for the Nuggets, who had a five- game win streak broken. J.R. Smith had 11 points, but missed a key free throw in the closing seconds as Denver blew a six-point lead in the final four minutes.

Nene's free throw had the hosts in front 84-78, but the Pistons rallied and were within 86-85 after a Jason Maxiell jam inside two minutes.

Each team failed on possessions, and after Martin missed a hook shot in the lane, Prince got a kind bounce off the rim for a basket with 20.6 seconds left for a one-point Detroit advantage.

Smith drove down the lane, but lost the ball despite replays showing Iverson made contact with his hand.

Afflalo made a pair of foul shots, but Nene hit two. Afflalo again made two from the charity stripe with 7.5 seconds left, but then Iverson mistakenly fouled Smith during a quick three-point try. Smith, though, missed his first try before hitting the final two for a 91-90 difference with 5.5 seconds to go.

Two more free throws from Afflalo with four seconds left came just prior to Billups missing a last-second attempt.

Denver led 25-17 after the first quarter and stretched that to 48-38 at the half before Detroit got within 67-61 heading into the fourth.

Game Notes

The Pistons went 4-of-20 from three-point range, while Denver was 2- of-13...Billups went 11-of-19 from the field.
