Edmonton, AB (My Sportsbook) - Steve Bernier registered two goals in 12 seconds and an assist, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-2 victory over Edmonton in a key Northwest Divisional match-up at Rexall Place.

Alex Burrows posted a goal and two helpers for the Canucks, who have earned points in four straight games (2-0-2). Jason LaBarbera continued his strong play against Edmonton, making 23 saves. LaBarbera came into action with a 4-0-1 record, a 1.05 goals-against average and a .966 save percentage in five career games against the Oilers.

Mats Sundin made his long-awaited debut for Vancouver and failed to record a shot in 15 minutes of ice time. The veteran pivot, who had contemplated retirement during the offseason, signed with the Canucks on December 18. The former Maple Leafs captain spent the past 13 seasons with Toronto and left as the franchise's career scoring leader. Sundin was originally taken first overall by Quebec in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.

Robert Nilsson and Erik Cole each scored for the Oilers, who have dropped three of five. Dwayne Roloson allowed three goals on 21 shots in defeat.

Willie Mitchell thought he had put Vancouver on the board at 8:36 of the first period, but rookie center Alexandre Bolduc's penalty for goaltender interference nullified the tally.

Burrows lit the lamp with 5:53 to play in the middle stanza, but Nilsson netted the equalizer on the power play 90 seconds later.

Ryan Kesler then dished to Bernier in the slot and he wired a shot past Roloson with 2:40 remaining in the frame. The former first-round pick scored again 12 seconds later. Bernier wheeled out from behind the net and Burrows slid a pass through the crease that was drilled underneath the Edmonton netminder.

Cole made it a one-goal game at the 8:48 mark of the third period. He came out from behind the cage and had Steve Staios' point blast deflect off his skate.

Pavol Demitra's empty-net marker with 35.7 seconds left sealed the win for Vancouver.

Kesler had two assists for Vancouver...The Canucks have won five of the last eight meetings with Edmonton...Injured Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo and Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray were named as reserves for the Western Conference All-Star team before the game.
