(My Sportsbook) - The
Dallas Mavericks kick off a quick two-game homestand Tuesday when they welcome the
Los Angeles Clippers to North Texas.
The Mavs are hoping to bounce back from an ugly loss in Memphis on Sunday when star rookie O.J. Mayo scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds, as the Grizzlies topped Dallas, 102-82, to snap a 13-game skid against the Mavericks.
Coming into the contest, Memphis had lost 18 of the last 19 meetings with Dallas, and had not beaten the Mavs since a 112-92 victory on November 26, 2005.
Dirk Nowitzki had a game-high 28 points for Dallas, which had a three-game win streak broken. Jason Terry added 18 points, and Josh Howard chipped in 12 in the loss.
The Clips, meanwhile, dropped their seventh straight game on Sunday when Rodney Stuckey continued to shine for the shorthanded Pistons, scoring 24 points, as Detroit narrowly edged the Clippers, 88-87, at Staples Center.
Detroit continued its recent domination of the Clippers, beating them for the 12th straight time. LA hasn't topped the Pistons since November 3, 2002.
Rookie Eric Gordon scored a career-high 31 points for the Clippers, who have lost seven straight and were without Zach Randolph (knee) and Baron Davis (tailbone).
Steve Novak posted 15 points, while Mardy Collins dished out a game-high 12 assists. Marcus Camby had 14 points and 20 rebounds, and Al Thornton provided 12 points in the loss.
LA will continue to play shorthanded tonight. Both Randolph and Davis are expected to remain on the sidelines along with big man Chris Kaman (foot) and swingman Ricky Davis (knee).
In other news for the Clips, the team waived guard Fred Jones and forward Paul Davis on Monday and acquired 7-foot-1 center Cheikh Samb from Denver for a conditional second-round draft pick.
Dallas, which is 10-6 at home this season, has won five straight over the Clippers in North Texas, including a 100-98 win on December 2. LA is just 5-11 as the visitor on the year.
