Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - Owen Nolan tallied the only two goals of the game, and the Minnesota Wild blanked the Colorado Avalanche, 2-0, at Pepsi Center. Niklas Backstrom made 32 saves for his fourth shutout of the season for Minnesota, which has won two of three and snapped a six-game road losing streak. Tyler Arnason had a team-high five shots for the Avalanche, who have lost three straight on the heels of a three-game win streak. Peter Budaj stopped 35-of-37 shots in the loss. The Wild stormed out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first period. Nolan's tip in at the 7:23 mark got Minnesota on the board, and Nolan made it 2-0 just over three minutes later. Nolan stole the puck behind the opposing net, and Krystofer Kolanos grabbed it and attempted a wrap-around shot. The shot skidded away from Budaj, and Nolan found the loose puck and stuffed it home at the 10:42 mark. With a two-goal lead after the opening period, the Wild put forth a strong defensive effort to hold Colorado scoreless over the last two periods. Backstrom stopped 12 shots in the second and 10 in the third to post the shutout.
