Berkeley, CA (My Sportsbook) - Jerome Randle connected on 7-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-7 from behind the arc, as his 26 points and 10 assists helped the California Golden Bears pull out an 81-71 victory over the 17th- ranked Arizona State Sun Devils in a Pac-10 tilt.
Patrick Christopher chipped in 20 points, and Jamal Boykin added nine, as the Bears (13-2, 2-0 Pac 10) won their seventh straight game and moved to 11-0 at home.
James Harden logged 26 points while pulling down eight rebounds for Arizona State (12-2, 1-1), which had won eight in a row and was coming off a 90-60 whipping of Stanford in the conference opener.
Rihards Kuksiks and Jeff Pendergraph each had 16 points in the loss.
ASU went on an 11-2 run to end the first half, as Kuksiks' late three-pointer tied the game 37-37 to end the opening 20 minutes, which saw each team hit 14-of-28 from the floor.
Consecutive three-balls from Theo Robertson and Christopher gave the Bears a 50-45 lead four minutes into the second half.
The hosts stayed in front by a slim margin, while Jorge Gutierrez's jumper pushed the differential to 67-59 with 9:20 remaining.
The Sun Devils scored 10 of the game's next 14 points as Harden's slam at the 2:43 mark made it a two-point game.
Randle, though, answered by drilling a three-pointer from straightaway while being fouled by Ty Abbot. Randle's subsequent free throw gave Cal a six-point lead it never relinquished.
