San Jose, CA (My Sportsbook) - Mike Grier scored twice and Jonathan Cheechoo had three assists, as the Sharks extended their home points streak to 30 games with a 5-3 victory over the Islanders at the Shark Tank.

Patrick Marleau, Dan Boyle and Ryane Clowe each lit the lamp for San Jose, which has still yet to lose at home in regulation this season, going 19-0-2. San Jose is 27-0-3 in its last 30 games as the host dating back to last season, leaving them seven games shy of the NHL record for consecutive games at home with a point. That run of 37 games was set by the Montreal Canadiens in 1976-77 and 77-78, as the club went 31-0 with six ties in that span.

Evgeni Nabokov made 21 saves in the win and Joe Thornton had a pair of assists, giving him a goal and 10 assists over a six-game point streak.

Richard Park scored once and had two assists for New York, which has dropped 12 straight games on the road. Thomas Pock and Tim Jackman both scored in defeat. Joey MacDonald made 42 saves in the loss.

Down by three goals late in the game, Jackman skated in on the right side and cut towards the goal as he reached the circle. It was there that he wristed the puck into the net to bring the Islanders within 4-2. The shorthanded tally came with 3:10 left in regulation.

Pock made it a one-goal game with 63 seconds left as his slap per from the top-right corner of the zone found its way to the twine.

Marleau, though, sealed the win with an empty-netter with 9.5 ticks left to account for the final margin.

Milan Michalek, stationed behind the net, fed a pass out front to Clowe, who wristed the disc past MacDonald at the 11:20 mark of the first for a 1-0 San Jose lead.

Grier's wraparound made it 2-0 at the 19:39 mark of the opening frame. Marcel Goc and Cheechoo assisted on the tally.

Boyle and Park exchanged goals in the middle period, and the Sharks led 3-1 heading into the final 20 minutes of play.

Grier notched his second goal of the night with 7:38 left in the game as he redirected a cross-ice pass from Rob Blake into the back of the net to give the home team a 4-1 cushion.

Game Notes

The Sharks still lead the Pacific Division by a healthy 20 points and are six points up on Detroit for the best record in the Western Conference...New York hasn't won on the road since November 24 in Montreal and is just 5-15-2 as the visiting squad this season...New York forward Bill Guerin had a five-game point streak snapped...The Sharks are 7-2 with a tie in their last 10 versus the Islanders and have won three straight and five of the last six as the host in the series.
