Waco, TX (My Sportsbook) - Zam Fredrick's layup with five seconds left was the difference, and the South Carolina Gamecocks recorded an impressive 85-84 road victory over the 19th-ranked Baylor Bears.

Fredrick had 19 points, while Devan Downey scored 23 points and dished out eight assists for the Gamecocks (10-2), who have won six of seven. Mike Holmes had 11 points and seven rebounds, while Dominique Archie and Brandis Raley- Ross each had 10 points in the victory.

Curtis Jerrells had a team-high 22 points, 10 assists and six rebounds for the Bears (12-2), who lost for the first time in 10 home games. Tweety Carter tallied 18 points, while Henry Dugat had 16 points and eight rebounds. Kevin Rogers posted 14 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.

Leading by four at halftime, Baylor took a 10-point lead on Carter's three- pointer two minutes into the period.

But the Gamecocks came storming back, going on a 13-2 run to take a 49-48 edge on Downey's jumper with 12:48 left. South Carolina scored eight straight points later to take a 63-53 lead with just over eight minutes left.

The Bears would race all the way back, and Jerrells' tip shot with 1:04 left cut the hosts' deficit to two at 82-80. Rogers offensive rebound and layup put Baylor down only one with 32.5 seconds left.

South Carolina immediately committed a traveling violation, and LaceDarius Dunn hit two free throws with 12.9 seconds left to put Baylor up, 84-83. Fredrick came back and made a driving layup with five seconds left, and the Bears' final shot was blocked, giving the victory to the Gamecocks.

Baylor jumped out to an early 10-point lead, 23-13, on Jerrells' free throw to cap a 14-6 run nine minutes into the game.

South Carolina cut its deficit to 32-29 on Fredrick's three-pointer with 4:39 left, but the Bears led 40-36 at the half after Fred Ellis' tip shot at the buzzer.
