(My Sportsbook) - The
Phoenix Suns kick off a three-game homestand on Friday when they welcome the
Los Angeles Clippers to US Airways Center.
The Suns closed out 2008 on a positive note in Memphis on Tuesday when Leandro Barbosa recorded 11 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter and Phoenix finished with the contest on a 25-5 run to get the better of the Grizzlies, 101-89.
Shaquille O'Neal logged 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Grant Hill had a solid all-around performance with 15 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists for Phoenix, which has won 10 straight against the Grizzlies and three of four overall.
Former NBA MVP Steve Nash missed the game with back spasms but the point guard is expected to return to the lineup tonight.
Phoenix, which is 9-6 as the host this year, will also face Indiana and Dallas on its residency.
The Clippers, meanwhile, dropped their fifth straight game on New Year's Eve when Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala netted a season-high 28 points with seven boards and as many assists to lead the 76ers to a 100-92 triumph over LA at Staples Center.
Al Thornton led the way with 24 points, nine rebounds and four blocks for the Clippers, who were without star power forward Zach Randolph. Eric Gordon contributed 21 points while Marcus Camby logged 16 points, 17 rebounds and six assists.
Baron Davis was just 5-of-16 shooting for 11 points to go along with eight assists for Los Angeles, which has dropped six of its last seven contests overall.
Randolph, who is averaging 23.1 points and 9.9 rebounds in 14 games since being acquired in a trade with the New York Knicks in late November, will remain sidelined tonight with a bruised left knee.
The Clips snapped a three-game skid against the Suns in LA late last season but have lost six of their last eight games in the Valley of the Sun. LA is 5-10 as the visitor this season.
