=== Kansas City Royals Team Report - June 29 === (My Sportsbook) - The Kansas City Royals try to get back on the winning track this evening when they continue their four-game set against the Baltimore Orioles at Kauffman Stadium. Kansas City will pin its hopes on Mike Wood, who will be making his Royals debut. The 24-year-old righthander pitched seven games for the Oakland Athletics last season - starting one - and was 2-1 despite a 10.54 ERA. One of his wins, though, came at the expense of the Orioles in a two-inning relief stint. In the opener of the set on Monday, Erik Bedard tossed 6 1/3 shutout innings and David Newhan went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three runs scored as Baltimore rolled to a 10-1 win. Byron Gettis and Matt Stairs each had two hits for the Royals, who suffered their fifth consecutive defeat and fell a season-worst 17 games under .500, the worst in the league.. Darrell May (5-9) had a string of three straight winning decisions snapped after surrendering seven runs, six earned, and eight hits over six frames. Kansas City, which is in the midst of a 10-game homestand, is 18-22 at home this season. Following the game the Royals placed third baseman Joe Randa on the 15-day disabled list with torn cartilage in his right knee. Randa will undergo surgery Tuesday and is expected to miss one month. Kansas City took four of the seven meetings last season, but has lost 16 of the last 22 matchups, including nine of the last 12 at Kauffman Stadium.
