Tampa Bay Devil Rays Team Report - June 29 ===
(My Sportsbook) - John Halama tries to win his fifth consecutive decision this evening when the Tampa Bay Devil Rays continue their four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays at Tropicana Field.
Halama, who will be making just his third start of the season, has won his last three outings and has not tasted defeat since May 12 against the Texas Rangers. His latest win came on Thursday against the Blue Jays, as he allowed five runs and eight hits over five innings to improve to 4-1 on the year.
The 32-year-old lefthander, who has pitched to a 3.66 earned run average this season, has faced the Blue Jays 11 times in his career, six of which have been starts, and is 3-2 with a 4.70 ERA.
In the opener of the set on Monday, Victor Zambrano won his fifth straight decision and Jose Cruz, Jr. smacked a three-run homer to lead Tampa Bay to a 10-2 win.
Zambrano (8-4) allowed two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits in six innings for the Devil Rays, who have won four of their last five games and 16 of 18. Carl Crawford finished with four hits for the fourth time this season and Geoff Blum homered.
Over his last 14 games Crawford is hitting .453 (29-for-64) and he leads the majors with 35 steals. The outfielder has also scored a run in a team-record nine consecutive games and has 15 RBI in his last 16 games. One more stolen base would make him the eighth player since 1900 to steal 100 before his 23rd birthday.
Tampa, which will be playing the fifth leg of a seven-game homestand, is 22-16 at Tropicana Field this season.
Tonight's contest is the fifth of 19 meetings between the two teams this season. Tampa Bay took two of three last week at SkyDome and has won 14 of the last 23 matchups, including six of the last 10 at Tropicana Field.
