Detroit, MI (My Sportsbook) - The Detroit Tigers agreed to terms on a one- year contract with catcher Matt Treanor on Thursday. Treanor batted .238 with two homers and 23 RBI in 65 games for the Florida Marlins a year ago. "Matt is a quality backup catcher at the major league level and a solid addition to our club," said Tigers president, CEO and general manager David Dombrowski. "Addressing our catching situation was a priority for us this winter and we feel we have solidified that area by adding both Gerald Laird and Matt Treanor." The Tigers acquired Laird from the Texas Rangers for a pair of minor league pitching prospects earlier this month. In a five-year pro career, all with the Marlins, the 32-year-old Treanor is a .237 hitter with eight home runs, 70 RBI and 30 doubles.
