White Plains, NY (My Sportsbook) - The 2009 first-round Davis Cup tie between the host United States and Switzerland will be played in Birmingham, Alabama, as announced by the U.S. Tennis Association. The best-of-five tie will be staged from March 6-8 at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex Arena, as Alabama will play host to Davis Cup tennis for the first time ever. Team USA should be led by Andy Roddick, while another former world No. 1, 13- time major champion Roger Federer, is expected to spearhead the Swiss contingent. Federer hasn't played in a first-round Davis Cup matchup since 2004. |
