Detroit, MI (My Sportsbook) - The Detroit Tigers signed shortstop Adam Everett to a one-year contract on Monday. Financial terms were not released, but the deal is believed to be worth $1 million plus incentives. "We are pleased to add Adam Everett to the Tigers organization," Tigers president, chief executive officer and general manager David Dombrowski said. "Improving our defense was a priority for our club this winter and we feel Adam is one of the top defensive shortstops in the game." Everett, 31, played in only 48 games last year with the Minnesota Twins due to a shoulder injury, batting .213 with two homers and 20 RBI. A fractured fibula limited him to just 66 games in 2007 with the Houston Astros. The Georgia native and former first-round pick of the Boston Red Sox has collected 37 home runs and 234 RBI with a .246 average in 697 games for the Astros and Twins.
