San Jose, CA (My Sportsbook) - San Jose Sharks forward Jeremy Roenick was placed on injured reserve Sunday, retroactive to December 11. Roenick, who will likely be out longer than the three weeks reported earlier in the week, will have arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder on Monday. Roenick suffered the injury in the first period of Thursday's 2-0 win over Anaheim. He was injured when he attempted to gain possession of a loose puck along the boards behind the net and was checked by Anaheim defenseman Brett Festerling. He did finish the game, though. The 38-year-old has recorded three goals and five assists in 28 games this season Over his 20-year career, he has 512 goals and 1,211 points in 1,349 contests with the Blackhawks, Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and Sharks. To replace Roenick on the roster, the team recalled forward Jamie McGinn from Worcester of the American Hockey League. McGinn has recorded three points in five games for the Sharks this year, scoring the game-winner November 4 against Minnesota.
