Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - The Colorado Rockies didn't tender a contract to outfielder Willy Taveras for the 2009 season, meaning he'll be a free agent. Taveras, who turns 27 on Christmas Day, hit .251 in 133 games for the Rockies last season. He also topped the majors with 68 steals. Taveras has spent two seasons with the Rockies since he was acquired from Houston in December 2006. He is a career .283 hitter with seven homers, 109 RBI and 169 steals since breaking into the majors in 2004.
