San Diego, CA (My Sportsbook) - San Diego Padres pitchers Clay Hensley and Charlie Haeger were non-tendered Friday, making both players free agents. Hensley, 29, posted a 1-2 record with a 5.31 earned run average in 32 games in 2008. In his four-year career, all with San Diego, Hensley is 15-18 with a 4.09 ERA and 206 strikeouts in 106 games, including 40 starts. Haeger, a 25-year-old knuckleballer, was claimed off waivers by the Padres on September 10 and posted a 16.62 ERA in four relief appearances in 2008 for San Diego. In three seasons with the White Sox and Padres, Haeger is 1-2 with a 6.35 ERA. Midnight on Friday is the deadline for teams to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players with 3-to-6 years of service time. Also qualifying for arbitration are "Super-Two" players, which are players who have between 2-to-3 years of service time, 86 days of service in the previous season and rank in the top 17 percent of total service time among players with between 2-to-3 years of service time.
